Only two or three of us have any interest/knowledge of breeding but we all decided that this was the way to go (so Darren did influence the decision in some way)"

Romeo loves the Abbey as record falls

8:00am Monday 27th July 2009

Romeo Expert, the puppy sensation, lived up to the huge amount hype and expectation that has engulfed him during a very short track career with an extraordinary display in the final of the 63rd Two Year Old Produce Stakes at the Abbey Stadium.
Dave Firmager’s dog has been talked about nationwide but had blotted his copybook in the semi-finals.

When it came to the showpiece however, the canine star didn’t fluff his lines when it mattered most.

With his semi-final reversal obviously fresh in punters’ minds, the Coventry raider drifted in the betting from 4/7 to evens but 28.29 seconds later - a track record shattering performance - those odds were made to look very generous indeed.

A quick break, followed by a slight bump at the first bend, soon put him in control before he miraculously pulled further and further clear to annihilate an extremely talented field by over seven lengths.

Best of the rest was Milly Marina who ran on well having taken a bump at the first bend while Eye Eye Pickle, one of the main fancies for the competition prior to its commencement was a length back in third.

Westmead Bolt, trained by the multiple Derby-winning trainer Nick Savva, and Guinness time, trained by Trainers Championship winner Seamus Cahill, were fourth and fifth respectively having been involved in some early trouble The next stop for Romeo Expert is likely to be the Puppy Derby or Nottingham’s Produce Stakes but his run on Saturday will go down as one of the greatest performances ever seen at Blunsdon.

UNBEATEN ACE EXPERT SETS THE PRODUCE PACE AGAIN

By Richard Birch 3.44PM 18 JUL 2009

ROMEO EXPERT, a December 07 son of Collision trained by Dave Firmager, took star billing in Friday’s second round of the 63rd Two Year Old Produce Stakes at Swindon, after which four-time Derby-winning handler Nick Savva hailed him as “a flying machine who will take a lot of beating”.

Having just his second career start, Romeo Expert, who had set tongues wagging by winning his opening-round heat by over ten lengths, led at the first bend and proceeded to draw further and further clear, eventually crossing the line over eight lengths clear of Cashpointcharlie.

The winning time of 29.18sec – adjusted to 28.38sec when the -80 going allowance was taken into account – sets a very high standard which the other contestants will surely find difficult to match.

Kwikas Canbee

Group race winning breeders Sandro Bechini & Darren Leeson [BL Partnership] have aquired a very exciting brood prospect named Kwikas Canbee - Kwikas Canbee was a highly promising racebitch with a race record of 7 starts 3-1-1, consisting of a flying 30.06 (BOD) & 30.31 (BOD) wins around The Meadows.

Tragically at Kwikas Canbee's 8th race start as a $1.60 favourite, she was badly injured - with all but her race career over. Some 6 months later Kwikas Canbee returned to the racetrack - however, after a further 5 spaced out runs in an attempt to see Kwikas Canbee fullfil her undoubted potential - her original owner/breeder retired her to stud after a mere 13 starts.

Kwikas Canbee's 3 fantastic wins can bee viewed on www.greyhound-data.com , by typing Kwikas Canbee into the sites search engine and clicking on races at the top of Kwikas Canbee's data page, then clicking on the race film.

Kwikas Canbee comes from one of Australia's greatest dam lines - the 'Lorrathor' branch of the immortal 'Im Blessed' dam line. A dam line that has produced numerous GROUP 1 winners and finalists. The most famous of which include Hall Of Famers Brett Lee & Highly Blessed.

Kwikas Canbee's immediate family through the Jess Park/Lorrathor branch of I'm Blessed has produced GROUP class greyhounds the calibre of Dutchy's Angel, Lukeamy, Monster's Inc, Uno Joel, Fairy Wings, Ebony Park Lass, Union Road, Heady Park, Heady Freddie, Zealous Lady, Decliro Park, Sandy Park, Tessy Park, Ragsolo, Brett's Rival, Kahanamoku, Black Peri, Delta White Boy, Victorian, Public Nusiance, Elite Kerry, Violet Crumble, Tunza Pace, Narelle Louise, Amber Zeeta, Black Admiral, Pink Character, All The Moves & Migrate.

I'm Blessed family of GROUP class greyhounds; Hotshow Vintage, Exceptional, Hotshow Sam, Hotshow Ben, Creative, Dancing Angel, Arvo's Alarm, Arvo's Junior, Spring Smile, Brookside Bear, Royal Honcho, Oh Behave, Maureen Shirly, Pure Burst, Nitro Burst, Grimby Pete, Will You Behave, Diesel Man, Hotshow Lil, Pecajoma, Awesome Havoc, Capability, Arvo's Blitz, Cutting remark, Distinctive, Cool Logistix, Podium Dancer, Nikita's First, Invisiting me, Spring Prince & Nikayla Storm.

Kwikas Canbee's dam sire Elle's Command0, is fast emerging behind some great greyhounds, the likes of - Group 1 winners/track record holders -Whippy's Image, Bit Chili, Queen Lauryn and Mogambo.

Elle's Commando traces back to quality broodbitch Tarado (Darkie Bobs x Minor Dinah). The family of Wild Season - who equally is fast emerging behind Group winning greyhounds the likes of - Shanlyn Prince and High Earner.

Not to be outdone in Ireland, the Tarado lined Jamella Prince again is fast emerging behind some Group class greyhounds the likes of - Blonde Fern, Rebel Kewell and Rebel Brett.

Making Kwikas Canbee a very nice brood prospect!

Henny Hughes fastest qualifier...
